CEAV will have also be installing blogs and other contact portals in the near future.
Please do let us know what you think of the site, the project and anything else you'd like to offer in opinion or ideas. thank you, Red Slider, steward.
The following is the latest information we have
on contacts for Cal-Expo. We hope you will use
them to express your strongest objections to
Cal Expo's 'NBA' development plan. We advise you
send copies of communications to the Board of
Directors when you send them to the managment.
We would also appreciate a copy to CEAV as well
(steward-atsign-ceave-dot-us)
to keep us informed. Cal-Expo doesn't say
much about opposition to their plans. In fact, they
don't even mention there is any opposition. If we
get a copy of your communications, at least CEAV
will know.
Here are some of the addresses we have for them:
A good many government agencies and public
officials have, or will have, say in what
happens to Cal-Expo and whether their current
plan goes forward. Some of the key players are
listed here. It is important to let them know
your opinion. So far, though we have sent
numerous communications to them, we have heard
little in return. Please write them and let them
know the NBA plan should be halted and other
alternatives, such as CEAV, should be considered
without further delay.
we would also remind you that, while
Cal-Expo hopes the rest of California doesn't notice,
the land they are trying to slip into the hands
of private developers belongs to the State of California
(you, if you are a California resident or business) and
its mission was intended to serve all the people of this
state. So, do call and write your own local officials -
your mayor, your representatives - and let them know
what's going on. Up to now, they probably aren't even
aware what Cal Expo is trying to do or, why it is so
important that they be stopped. If it was up to Cal-Expo
nobody would know what they are doing except, perhaps,
a few basketball fans in Sacramento and some private
developers. Your action can change change that.
Here are some of the agencies and people you should
contact:
I'm sorry, CEAV has no email address for the
governor. The last two we tried only put us in
a loop and gummed up our system. If anyone has
a good email address for the governor, please let
us know.
The following two members of the legislature are also ex-officio members of the Cal-Expo Board of Directors. Up to now, they have said little, publicly. Perhaps your letters can change that.
Two public officials figure prominently
in the Cal-Expo deal. Mayor Kevin Johnson,
who is, of course, a big booster for getting
a new arena for the Kings basketball team; and,
Councilman Steve Cohen, whose district is immediately
adjacent to Cal-Expo and whose constituency will
certainly be impacted by such a large project,
one way or the other. While we have sent numerous
communications to both of them, neither have
bothered to publicly respond, pro or con, to our
project or to Cal Expo's actual intention. We
think it is about time they did. The
Mayor does appear to be growing
impatient with the time it is taking Cal-Expo to
put something together.
We note, that after several years and tens of
thousands of dollars spent, Cal-Expo doesn't even
a real concept. They sit and worry
about where a few parking spaces will go, or
how the doors on their football-field sized
exhibit warehouse will be for loading and
unloading. Important matters, no doubt; but
not at this stage, and not for Boards of Directors
to spend time discussing.
information will be provided later.
These folks have considerable
power and a role to play in the
transfer, lease or sale of any
state property. While they generally
stay 'under' the public radar, their
say in the Cal-Expo matter may be
crucial.
